During a university year abroad in France, Rachel Hanretty fell in love with macarons and started making them herself as a hobby. After struggling to secure a full-time graduate job when she returned to Scotland, she decided to turn her tasty treats into a business. What started as a small experiment (at age 23) quickly gained traction. Rachel’s journey hasn’t been without its challenges, but she has persevered and achieved significant wins, thanks to her passion and belief in herself. ⭐️

Your Host:

Karen was born in New York but has lived in the UK for more than 15 years and now calls Edinburgh home. She leads Digital Boost, a community of thousands of volunteers who help people start and grow businesses. She says, ‘I’m so grateful to Scotland for the opportunities it has given me. I’ve met so many incredible people doing incredible things here. I can’t wait for everyone to hear about them!'
