In Video 12 of the series on the restoration of the Sears Silvertone Model #7239 we see the pre-amplifier re-capping and re-wiring, and learn how 50 years of age can alter the functionality of vintage audio components! Time DOES carry a price.

But, in the end, with patience and determination, it IS possible to overcome adversity and succeed. That is what this final installment of the Sears Silvertone 7239 proves as the abused and forgotten 50 year old machine sings a beaut6iful contemporary song in full stereo audio.

I purchased the vintage Sears stereo tape recorder from E-Bay It appears that someone tried to get inside the machine, failed, gave up and lost the case mounting screws. And that was just the beginning of a tale of abandonment and abuse that I was able to repair over several months!

This vintage stereo tape recorder demonstrates how the Sears and Roebuck company carried and continues (in 2015) to carry a number of very fine products. In the 1960s, they sold this very unique stereo reel to reel tape recorder, the model 7239 under their own name, and I have not seen a tape recorder design like it anywhere else. It is a truly unique vintage reel to reel tape recorder which I believe was actually made by the Warwick Manufacturing Company of Chicago, exclusively for Sears.

I have had past experience with this model tape recorder in the 1960's, when I was in the Army, and am eager to restore this machine to its original true beauty.
