ASP PRESENTS:
The USMC P1944 (Herringbone Twill) HBT Modified Uniform. The main reason for developing this uniform was a direct result of the disaster at Tarawa. The pockets of the P41 and camouflage P42 uniforms were too small and there was no way to close them from losing whatever you put in them. The jacket had 2 large buttoned chest pockets and the pants had 3 large buttoned pockets. They also had gas flaps and buttons for a hood, but there was little to no use of it during the war. These uniforms have not been manufactured until late 44 and early 45. They were being held in reserve for the invasion of Japan where gas attacks was to be expected.
