The Escort was gone.
Not wrecked. Not damaged.
Gone.
Ryo had underestimated the monstrous power of Reaper’s weaponized GT-R, and now the machine that carried him across continents—the companion he trusted more than anything—had been erased from existence. The loss burned deeper than any defeat. And it fueled only one desire:
Bring Reaper down.
And get the Escort back.
But to stand a chance, the Akina Squad needed something they had never needed before.
Faster cars.
Much faster.
In Japan, Project D’s mechanics and the Akina Squad worked around the clock, trying to revive the damaged machines. But Takumi broke off with a small team, focusing entirely on the newborn GR86. Ryosuke, meanwhile, made several calls—quiet, strategic, purposeful. The kind of calls that bring impossible cars into existence.
And then he summoned an emergency meeting.
Not in Gunma.
Not even in Japan.
In America.
The squad would regroup at the U.S. Akina HQ—those who still had working cars, at least. Ryosuke stayed behind a little longer, tying up unfinished business in Japan. His ride? A rusty FC he once retired as a parts donor.
Ryo and Keisuke set off across the Tokyo Expressway, headed for their flight.
Meanwhile in Europe, Jaro and Daiki left Deep Forest and began their journey west.
A global convergence had begun.
---
When the team arrived in the U.S., Vaughn Gittin Jr.—the man overseeing the American branch—was immediately briefed. A threat like Reaper wasn’t something you fought alone. Vaughn knew this. And he knew exactly who to call.
While the crew organized the meeting, Manthey Racing shipped aero parts to the HQ for Ryo’s Porsche 993. Installing them felt like sharpening a blade. Ryo didn’t know how desperately he’d need that blade.
Because when Vaughn finally led Ryo and Keisuke into a private warehouse, they froze.
This wasn’t a workshop.
This was a legend’s den.
Standing before them were the icons themselves:
The Furious 7.
Dominic Toretto.
Brian O’Conner.
Han Lue.
Letty, Tej, Roman, and Shaun in the background.
Dom’s expression said everything:
“Show us what you can do.”
Before lending their expertise, Dom and Brian wanted to see whether the Japanese squad had the skill to match their reputation. So the Akina Squad lined up at Road Atlanta for a proving run.
They delivered.
Especially Ryo.
Even with the weakest machine on the grid, he closed the gap to Dom to thirty meters. Precision. Rhythm. Heart.
Enough to make Dom nod with quiet respect.
The next morning, Dom and Brian met Ryo again. This time, the tone was serious.
A weapon must be built.
Something capable of killing Reaper’s GT-R.
Tej already had a concept ready:
Project: The Reaper Cheater.
The base car needed to be a Ford GT—light, aerodynamic, perfect for absurd power. But in true Furious style, they weren’t going to buy it.
It had to be earned.
Roman knew a loudmouthed Miami rich kid named Jeffrey—someone who flaunted a Ford GT he barely knew how to handle. And Jeffrey, blinded by arrogance, loved the idea of winning Ryo’s Manthey-modified Porsche for his collection.
Two laps on the Daytona Road Course.
Winner takes the papers.
And Ryo accepted without hesitation.
Back in Japan, the atmosphere was calmer on the roads… but in the garages?
Chaos.
Takumi had finished the GR86—now wearing the iconic panda-color scheme, matching both AE86s. Under the hood roared a legend: the 2JZ, Toyota’s most celebrated engine.
He asked Bunta to accompany him for the maiden test run, then requested one more thing: to drive the same Tokyo Expressway section where Bunta once tested his rebuilt Subaru 22B. A comparison. A benchmark. A way to understand the GR86’s true potential.
They returned buzzing with excitement—only to find a massive transporter parked in front of the HQ.
“Special Delivery for Ryosuke Takahashi!” the driver announced.
Inside the trailer stood something no one expected:
A prototype RX from Mazda.
A machine that technically should not exist.
And yet, here it was—waiting for Ryosuke’s hands.
Bunta looked at the prototype… then at his Subaru…
and something in his expression changed.
His days as the Ghost of Akina were long past.
But Reaper’s cruelty, his disrespect, his violence—
Bunta Fujiwara wasn’t going to let that slide.
Not this time.
A new shadow was awakening.
