One Life to Live 10/2/1990

Brenda spots Dan and Laura Jean out to breakfast at Max’s Place. Andy welcomes her home from Arizona. Dan spots Brenda at the bar and goes over to say hi. Brenda says she flew home because she was concerned about Tony. Brenda tells Dan her father is doing well and Tyler is going to college. She says Steven asks about him a lot, and she invites him to come visit him, which Dan promises to do. Dan apologizes for how their relationship ended. Megan is sad Jake can’t carry her over the threshold. She says she loved their weird fake wedding ceremony. Megan says she’ll take the back stairs up and meet Jake in his room. But when Jake gets to his room, it’s Charlotte, not Megan, whom he finds waiting for him. He asks Charlotte how she got in, and she says his door was open, which is when he realizes Megan must be hiding somewhere in the room. Jake tries to get rid of Charlotte, reminding her it’s not appropriate for them to be together while he’s investigating Sarah’s disappearance. Jake gets Charlotte to leave, though she doesn’t make it easy. Viki pleads with Niki to leave her alone. Niki goads her into trying to stand, which Viki does with great difficulty. Niki tries to get her to walk, but Viki says she’s exhausted just from standing. Viki tries to take a step and, unsurprisingly, falls on the floor. Joey (Chris McKenna) finds her on the ground and tries to help, but when Viki tells Niki to “go away,” Joey thinks she’s talking to him and he leaves. Sheila finds Viki on the floor and gets her back into her wheelchair, then she calls Larry. She says Viki seems unhurt, but it would be smart to examine her just in case. Kevin offers Joey a ride to school, but Joey says he’ll walk. Kevin asks what’s bothering him and he says mom fell and when he tried to help, it seemed like she was mad. Kevin tries to comfort his little brother, explaining that Viki is only able to say a word or two at the moment, so her meaning may not always be clear. Joey thinks she might be mad at him for not going to Seattle with Kevin and Clint, Kevin says they can check on her later. Rika asks Laura if she’s told Dan yet that they are old friends. Laura says she hasn’t and doesn’t plan to. Laura tells Rika she left Dan at the bar where he was talking to Brenda. Rika wants to know if Laura played a hand in Dan and Brenda’s breakup. Dan arrives at the clinic just in time to hear Laura Jean deny she has any feelings for him. Viki tells Sheila she told Joey to go away, but Sheila knows she didn’t mean it. Viki is worried she hurt Joey’s feelings, and Sheila tries to reassure her that Joey will understand.

Brenda pays Viki a visit but she’s distracted, trying to write Sheila a message about Joey. Sheila suggests they leave Viki alone to focus, but as soon as they leave the room, Niki returns to taunt Viki and suggests that Clint won’t wait around for her forever, even insinuating that he and Brenda would make a good couple. Just as Megan is about to emerge from her hiding place, Charlotte returns. She asks Jake whether things would be different between them if she could prove that Carlo wasn’t responsible for Sarah’s kidnapping. Jake says if she can prove, for certain, that Carlo is innocent, then they can pick up right where they left off. Later, Megan worries what will happen if Charlotte does produce proof. Jake thinks the more likely scenario is that Charlotte will find proof her father is guilty and just might come over to their side. Clint tells Viki he thinks it’s great that she tried to walk but suggests she shouldn’t try it again without one of them there. Afterwards, Niki renews her latest line of attack–telling Viki it won’t be long before Clint stops whispering sweet nothings in her ear and starts whispering them to Brenda instead. Rika drops by Llanfair to visit her sister. Rika wants to know why Sheila keeps leaving her notes every morning to call her, and Sheila explains she’s just checking in because despite living together they barely see each other. Rika has to head back to The Banner, but on her way out Sheila introduces her to Kevin and Joey who have come home for lunch. Kevin wants to go in and see Viki, but Joey isn’t interested in joining him, still believing he isn’t wanted.
