A few weeks ago, I brought you a full feature run-through of the incredible Phaseomatic Deluxe from Effectrode...a tube-driven phaser packed full of all the functionality you could ever dream up! Tap tempo; two independent LFO's; scattered waveforms; multiple feedback options....it really does do everything!
I said in that video that I was going to shoot a Part II - comparing the Phaseomatic to a selection of classic, vintage phasers. So...that's exactly what we're going to do today!
Lined up we have: an 1974 MXR Phase 90; a 1977 MXR Phase 45; a 1975 MXR Phase 100; a 1977 Electro-Harmonix Small Stone v1; and a 1975 (approx) Musitronics Mu-Tron Phasor II. That's quite an overview of the top effect of the 70's...!! I'll be using a selection of different guitars to see how the Phaseomatic compares to these legends. It's not designed to be a clone of an old phaser, but with it's huge functionality, we should be able to get it pretty close.
What do you think? Which phaser was your favourite? How did the Phasomatic compare? Comment below!
