Using the Supertrend indicator to identify buy and sell signals is as simple as waiting for the indicator to switch as it crosses over the closing price. The green line provides a purchase signal now that the Supertrend has closed lower than the closing price. When the Supertrend closes higher than the price, the line becomes red, suggesting a sell signal.
In trending markets, the SuperTrend is an intriguing signal. However, it may be a lagging indicator because it depends on current market action. It is very advised to employ other indicators to corroborate the indications.
