So, a while back, I made a noisy electronic device in a tobacco tin. That was a fun little experiment, but the implementation was poor, quite frankly. The functionality was limited and the output gain was impractically high - almost unusable! If you haven't seen that video, you can check that out here:

Since then, I've been 'back in the lab' to try and take the underlying skeleton of this device and elevate it to the next level. Cards on the table: this next iteration is not a roaring success, but it does feel like a step-up in complexity, giving an increased range of sounds and an overall improvement in the functionality. This version uses two LM386 amp board modules to create two oscillators that interact with one another, giving us rather chaotic sounding results. There are switches that change the routing of the signal path and two CV inputs to further modulate the pitch of the oscillators via two 3.5mm jack sockets.

In this video, we will have a brief look under the hood of this device, with some sound demos at the end. Perfect for anyone interested in noise music, no-input mixing, DIY audio electronics, experimental music and sound design.

This is a simplified version that will give you a single voice oscillator, with pitch control via a potentiometer. There are brief instructions, a full list of components and values, and some suggestions for modifications.
