2025 Snow Plow Roadeo - Small Equipment Competition

Staff from the Delaware T2/LTAP Center joined DeLea Founders Insurance Trust, a collection of Delaware local agencies that self-insure for occupational injury, for the 2025 Snowplow Roadeo at the University of Delaware STAR Campus in Newark, Delaware.

For the eighth year, plow operators competed for accuracy and time to highlight the dangers present with winter maintenance and sharpen their skills before the beginning of the season.

Increasingly, local agencies are asked to control ice and snow outside of the traditional vehicle travelway; now it's sidewalks, pedestrian plazas, bike paths, and so on. Different equipment is needed for these specialty areas and a different skill set is required to efficiently and safely clear these areas.

The Delaware Department of Transportation provided the drums and cones for the course and the University allowed use of the site. Volunteers helped judge and otherwise administer the event, while vendors provided some great information for drivers, and attendees enjoyed coffee, donuts, and sandwiches.

The Delaware T2/LTAP Center provides direct technical assistance, training, and technology transfer to Delaware local agencies relative to their transportation challenges.
