Searching for beautiful campsites in public land (Forest Service and BLM) that are free can be fun but it also can be challenging. I would have camped for a week or more in this beautiful spot in the Kootenai National Forest... except smoke from the Weasel Forest Fire on both sides of the Montana/Canadian border kept getting worse, obscuring the beautiful vistas around me. I was only 12 miles from the fire. This campsite had it all.. a mountain stream, beautiful views of the surrounding mountains from high up on a ledge, and wildlife!
GPS Coordinates for the campsite are 48.77753, -114.85571
