Come and ride with us on Caltrain from San Francisco to Mountain View California on a 2022 Stadler KISS (Komfortabler Innovativer Spurtstarker). Caltrain (operated under as JPBX or Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board) is a commuter train that travels between San Francisco and San José area. This local commuter train makes stops between San Francisco and San Jose (such as Palo Alto, Mountain View, San Antonio, San Bruno, etc).
In 2025, Caltrain replaced all of their diesel train vehicles to electric. Also, they have electrified their rail lines. In a distant future, California High Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) will share tracks with Caltrain.

Fares:
Caltrain fares depends how far you travel (in zones). In this video, we both traveled from San Francisco (Zone 1) to Mountain View (Zone 3) and the total fare was $7.95 (using the Clipper Card) one way. If purchasing a ticket from the ticket vending machine, the fare would be $8.50. Caltrain train conductors are onboard to check for tickets or scans the Clipper Card. San Francisco International Airport (SFO):
At Millbrae Station, there are two options to arrive at SFO, transfer to BART Red Line (26:13) or SimTrans Bus Route 292. Fare are different (and may not transfer to Caltrain) when riding BART or SimTrans.
