This seminar, organized in collaboration with the Residencia de Estudiantes, is a continuation of those held in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 and is part of the “Democracy and tolerance” line of work. After having addressed in previous editions the expansion of populisms, illiberal patterns of political action, the growth of global inequality, the risks of climate change or the challenges arising from technological disruptions, this edition will evaluate the effects generated by cultural diversity on social cohesion, as well as the capacity of democratic societies to process the conflicts that take place within them. Different experts will analyze the integration models currently in place in our democracies and whether they are sufficient to overcome social fragmentation, tribalism and the emergence of ethno-corporatist dynamics. It will also reflect on the framework of “identity politics”, the woke paradigm or the social tensions arising from the migratory processes affecting Europe.
