------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to yoga with archana alur , In today’s video we will see the difference between Parvatasana (mountain pose) and Adho Mukha Svanasana (downward dog pose). Both these poses are similar in the way that, the weight of the body is distributed on our arms and legs. They can both be a part of asanas that we can use as transition, but at the same time they are very different.
Parvatasana is a more stable pose and grounded. Its easy on the shoulders. Great for beginners. This pose is a part of the Hatha Yoga Suryanamaskara.
Adho Mukha Svanasana is more a flexibility and strength building asana.
Its part of Ashtanga Suryanamaskara. Once you are comfortable with Parvatasana, you can progress to Adho Mukha Svanasana.
BENEFITS:
Strengthens the upper body by Engaging & strengthening the arms, shoulders, and upper back, helping to tone these areas
Improves flexibility by stretching the entire back of the body, including the spine, hamstrings, calves, and Achilles tendons. It can help alleviate stiffness in these areas.
Relieves tension in the spine by lengthening the spine, which can relieve tension and improve posture.
Enhances circulation as its a inversion which increases blood flow to the brain, promoting mental clarity and concentration
Stimulates digestion as the gentle compression of the abdomen in Downward Dog can aid in the digestion process and help alleviate digestive discomfort.
Builds endurance as Holding this pose requires both physical and mental stamina, which can improve overall endurance over time.
Practicing inversions like Parvatasana & Adho Mukha Svanasana can have a calming effect on the nervous system and reduce stress.
