I decided to take the squishiest party member in Xenoblade Chronicles and see if she could solo the hardest time trial.
Turns out, it's completely possible.
This time can be massively improved. During attempts I had close sub 2:30s that would fail for reasons or another. (There are a lot of elements of the fight that are REALLY mapped out to turn out exactly how they do) and the last attempt had some issues with Bugworm not getting chilled and me messing up my elementals in Wave 2, causing a slow transition into Wave 3. The last attempt could've easily sub 2:30'd.
Shoutouts to Enel for the basis for the build on Melia. (his Youtube can be found here) / @enelxc )
Strategy:
Melia equip:
Back Attack VI
Poison Plus VI
Chill Plus VI
Ether up VI x2
Agility up VI
HP up V
Skill Tree: Most every ether up skill that doesn't overlap, all stats up at battle start, agility up at battle start, glorious future, cooldown reduction at night. Shulk has pessimism tree in party for the sake of longer visions. (Could totally do without with the right RNG, but makes the fight bearably more consistent)
Wave 1:
Poison Bugworm and Chill him and Forte. (Bug dodged chill somehow, so I had to use an extra Bolt, that actually made the later Elemental Burst guaranteed fortunately)
Reflection to avoid damage, summon Ice.
Kite to charge reflect (not always needed but no reason not to), burn Forte with ice and bolt.
Summon Bolt, Ice, Earth for Raxeal.
Burn him with Earth than Ice. Reflect for safety.
Wave 2:
Supposed to use Bolt plus Ice before fight start. (This is where I messed up and double bolted)
Use Ice on Gonzalez and Rotbart
Summon and use Earth on Rotbart (Used a bolt to finish him after kiting him to wave 3 instead)
Normally where I hit Elemental Burst. Sometimes need to throw and extra Water element for meter.
Reflect. Summon Copy to have Earth in 2nd slot, summon Ice for third before fight finishes to save time.
DOT burns both.
Wave 3: Using Burst Bonus Ice both Abassy and Belgazas, switch target from abassy to belgazas during cast. (This made Mountain Stomp occur more often as a vision for some reason, and sometimes skipped his vicious combo)
Earth Belgazas immediately.
Wait to reflect based on avoiding vicious combo, other factors. Can't use reflect or else it will skip visions. Locking Belgazas into Mountain Stomp is ideal, then using Burst end to drop Abassy's ether def. Using Reflect to avoid art and auto attacks from Abassy once Belgazas is locked down. (He won't live long enough to cast Stomp)
Otherwise it can really go freestyle, reacting to things accordingly and trying to wait on reflect until someone gets locked into a vision is ideal.
Depending on HP threshold Abassy will cast his talent art or Purging Fire. Note that he regularly bugs out and auto attacks instead of flying away for Fire if he has status and you're in range. (Lost a good run to this :/ ) Otherwise abuse the vision window to burst damage him and apply DOTs with his def down.
