1. The Unchanging Nature and Goodness of God
God's Immutability: He opens with the declaration, "I am the Lord, I change not" (Malachi 3:6), establishing God's constant character.
God's inherent Goodness: He cites Psalm 145:17 to affirm that "the Lord is righteous in all his ways and holy in all his works." This includes acts of judgment, which are always just.
Personal Testimony: Skeete personalizes this, stating, "God has never done me anything wrong. Never. All my problems I have brought on myself. All my blessings have come from God."
2. The Core Problem: Sin and Spiritual Bankruptcy
The Human Condition: The primary reason we need Jesus is our state of sin, which is a heart-level rebellion against God.
Inability to Save Ourselves: He emphasizes that humans are spiritually bankrupt and cannot fix their sin problem through their own efforts. Our own righteousness is insufficient (Isaiah 64:6).
3. The True Need: Jesus as Substitute, Not Just a Supplier
This is the central thesis of the sermon. Skeete makes a crucial distinction:
The Need for Him: This is a conditional need based on circumstances (e.g., "I need Jesus for healing, for a job, for peace").
The Need of Him: This is an absolute, unconditional need for salvation. "I need Jesus like a drowning man needs air... I need Him for my very spiritual survival." He is the solution to our core problem, not just a provider for our surface-level wants.
4. The Centrality of the Cross
Substitutionary Atonement: Jesus is presented primarily as our substitute. On the cross, He took the punishment for sin that we deserved (Isaiah 53:5-6).
The Great Exchange: He explains 2 Corinthians 5:21—that Christ took our sin and gave us His righteousness in return.
Sharing the good news of the soon return of Jesus Christ, our Lord Creator and Redeemer.
