Ok, this video had to be born sooner or later. I’m a big fan of Star Trek The Original Series and The Next Generation. And while watching TNG I couldn’t stop thinking about how many lessons it gives that can be used in collaborative research projects, in the open innovation approach.
That’s why I prepared this video where I gathered 7 lessons Star Trek The Next Generation could teach innovation managers, Chief Innovation Officers, VPs of Innovation, and everyone else involved in developing innovation for their business.
TIMESTAMPS:
00:00 - Introduction
01:30 - Lesson 1. Suspicions destroy us and our relationships
04:12 - Lesson 2. Collaboration via fighting the common enemy
07:04 - Lesson 3. Collaboration cannot be achieved by diplomacy or politics.
10:14 - Lesson 4. Start with a smaller research project together
12:16 - Lesson 5. The solution can be found in adjacent areas which you might overlook
15:31 - Lesson 6. We should give up this self-importance to successfully collaborate
17:54 - Lesson 7. Some challenges cannot be solved without co-creation
