Persian rugs come in an endless variety of designs. These are the rare and artistic designs you can find in Persian rugs.

1. Open Field - The field of the rug has a lot of open space with one background color. Different motifs can be found inside the field like flowers, medallions, and curvilinear patterns. This design is inspired by the cover of Quran.

2. Boteh - Boteh in Farsi means a budding flower or plant. In Persian culture, it stands for growth and regeneration. It looks like a teardrop, flame or a pine cone shape spread throughout the rug in a repeating pattern.

3. Tree of Life - This design stands for the connection between the Earth and the environment. A large tree of life is found in the center of the rug with botanical patterns as well as birds and animals surrounding the tree.

4. Garden Panel - This design features different types of garden inside panels repeating throughout the rugs. Gardens play a significant role in Persian culture. Each panel represents a view of paradise and the weaver's hope and belief in a bright future. Each of the panels has different background colors and flowers, plants, and birds can be found inside the panels.

5. Vase - basically a vase with flowers is spread out throughout the rugs. Very often, weavers create a single large vase surrounded by several smaller-sized vases.

6. Prayer - features a Mehrab, an arc doorway that indicates the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca towards which Muslims should face when praying.

7. Pictorial - these designs are made by masterweavers in the workshops in Tabriz, Kashan, Sarouk, and Isfahan. It features landscape sceneries and historical figures and places.
