Cyano kept coming back in my reef tank — even though nutrients and flow looked right. In this video, I share my real experience and explain how high DOC turned out to be the hidden problem, and how catalytic activated carbon finally fixed it.

This wasn’t a huge outbreak, but recurring cyano patches appearing in the same spots over and over again. I tried more flow, manual removal, balancing nitrate and phosphate, feeding more, and endless research. Nothing worked — until I focused on dissolved organic carbon.
