"Through Bushes and Briars"
Hi Everyone:
Warm greetings to you from Wyoming on the cusp of September.
A couple of good friends have helpfully suggested that I retitle this episode “Through Bushmills and Dewars”. I can appreciate their inclination, times being what they are.
I sang “Through Bushes and Briars” a few evenings ago while I was staying at a friend’s ranch near the Owl Creek Mountains. Red Creek feeds into a little pond that has turned into a bird sanctuary of sorts.
The singer makes their way through bushes and briars “all for to hear the small birds sing and the lambs to skip and play”. There were no frolicking lambs, but there was a lilting ensemble of warbling, tweeting (the other kind), quacking and chirping.
