The Iron Maiden Part III
At the start, I clean the business segment of an antique zig zag rule. My wife purchased this for me to use at the forge, after melting numerous plastic coated tape measures. @raannstagram has the best gifts!
From 16 gauge sheet steel, I prep and cold form the under lugs and ramrod pipes.
I anneal the metal after each stage of forming to reduce work hardening and to prevent metal fatigue; it also makes forming much easier.
The under lugs will be dovetailed into the bottom of the barrel to hold the stock. The ram rod pipes will be inletted into the bottom of the stock to secure the ram rod when not in use.
These pieces, as well as the forged items from the previous video, will need a substantial amount of filing and shaping before surface finishing and installation. I will document that process in the next video.
