American musician Ferde Grofé plays a popular 1925 Fox Trot, "Five Foot Two, Eyes of Blue", in an Ampico reproducing piano roll recording issued in February 1925, #206951, with music by Ray Henderson and lyrics by Sam Lewis and Joe Young. Ferde Grofé is known now mostly for his distinctly American orchestral pieces including "Grand Canyon Suite", but he was also a gifted piano roll artist.
The piano in this video is a 1924 5'8" Mason & Hamlin Ampico grand restored in 2019 at Historic Pianos, where this video was made. This lovely instrument is now happily back with its owner in Iowa after full restoration of both the piano and player mechanism.
