Testing New Shinai for Full Contact Sword Sparring [vlog / sword talk]

Today we did some gear testing with some special shinai from Tozando. They are 105cm long to emulate the katana and they have Tozando's special katana grip.
We test them for use in full contact sparring with limited bogu - in our case, men and kote only. On areas with no bogu this testing was unpleasant. No injuries were sustained as we stopped at a decent level of pain.

Please don't emulate anything you see here. We have done this is a controlled manner starting with soft strikes and working our way up in power to test the gear for safe use with and without bogu for sword sparring.

Always be aware of your surroundings and minimise harm to yourself, others and your environment. Never use weapons when intoxicated or upset or for any act of violence.
