As someone that has multiple chronic illnesses I have been sucked into the spiral of "healing", "health", and fad diets that cut major food groups out... all in search of just trying to feel like a "normal" human. Over the last decade I've tried vegan for 6 years, AIP diets, low carb, calorie deficits, raw vegan, juices, gluten free, supplements, meditation, crystals, etc. ... you name it, I've probably tried it. All in the name of health, I have sacrificed my own mental health trying to just live a normal life without pain, digestive issues, depression, hormonal issues, vertigo, and diagnosed with PCOS, Hashimoto's, Hypothyroidism, GAD, Familial hypocholesterolemia, and Alpha Gal syndrome.
In the end I've tried it all, just to realize it was causing more harm than good to constantly be trying new diets and the last thing I want is my 5-year-old daughter to grow up thinking this is what she needs to do.
So, though I may tweak my diet here and there, my goal now is to not completely cut out any food groups. Try to eat a balanced, in moderation type of diet, and just live with one less stress in my chronic illness life.
