I did this as a little present for you - how to paint a nutcracker using the ink resist / gouache wash off technique. But the technique is fabulous all year round and for any subject. Take a look here: • Gouache wash off / resist technique for a landscape using this technique.
I used a piece of 140lb not surface paper, with whatever gouache colours you can lay your hands on. Make sure you use waterproof Indian ink and dry the layers in between. At the end use watercolour not gouache, to add any extra colour.
