The American Statistical Association’s Guidelines for Assessment and Instruction in Statistics Education (GAISE) recommend that introductory statistics courses introduce students to multivariable thinking: reasoning about relationships between more than two variables. The JMP Student Edition’s interactive and visual tools can help students develop this important statistical thinking skill.
This webinar demonstrates techniques for teaching multivariable thinking that rely on only introductory-level concepts and graphs. Topics and examples include:
Using interactive graphs and data summaries to explore multivariable data
Lurking variables, confounds, spurious correlations
Two-factor Interactions
Simpson’s paradox
