Harvesting Crisp Persimmons to Sell at the Market – Simple Joys of Daily Life

A new day finds Thuy and little Nam picking crisp persimmons with a net to avoid bruising, then washing and soaking them in lime water to remove astringency. After 24 hours, the fruit is perfectly crisp and sweet. Thuy feeds the animals, packs the fruit, and heads to market, where sample slices draw steady customers and everything sells out. On the way home they enjoy fried chicken and seafood noodles—everyday joy for Nam beside his mother, and for Thuy, watching him grow through sweet harvests.
