7/64" overbored air tube effects on velocity in a Restomod Daisy

This video explores and explains the effects that modifying a factory seamless airtube to a larger 7/64" diameter have on the velocities you can achieve in the redoubtable Daisy #111 Model 40/27 Red Ryder Carbine produced here at Restomod Daisy.

There are a couple of things you'll need if you want to replicate this system. The first component is the Sliding Spring Block that I developed to convert the cock on opening original design to a cock on closing design derived from Charles F. LeFever's work on the Daisy Model 27 way back in the 1920's. This conversion removes the need for a fixed spring anchor and makes the removal of the plunger assembly relatively easy. You will also need to obtain three mainsprings a different power levels to swap out to tune the guns output for the intended use and you'll need a new production Daisy Model 25 shot tube to max the velocity you can achieve. The last item is an overbored airtube to deliver max pressure to the shot tube and max speed to the BB.

You can see from our improvised Restomod Graphic that the increases in speed are pretty substantial with the low and mid power springs but are still present with the high power Cobalt 327 SuperSpring. A 30+ FPS increase in power in this platform by changing out the airtube is remarkable.
