Hysterical 911 Call from Ballerina's Neighbor Details Night of Deadly Shooting

Ashley Benefield's neighbor, John Sant, took the stand on Tuesday afternoon where he recalled the shocking moment Benefield was found banging on his door and explained that Ashley’s husband, Doug Benefield, attacked her. The 911 call was played for the jury where Ashley Benefield was heard hysterical, while Sant is heard trying to calm her down.

In September 2020, Ashley Benefield ran to a neighbor's house in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, and stated she had just shot her husband. Douglas Benefield had several gunshot wounds to his leg, arm, and chest area. Ashley Benefield claims she shot him in self-defense after months of alleged abuse. She was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Ashley Benefield made bail and has been living with family and her daughter since the crime.
