Mary Smokes Creek walk Bellthorpe National Park.
Part 4 no road, no trail, wallaby tracks only
After two kilometres walk up the creek, I followed an east heading ridge up to Brandons Road.
The ridge climb is wallaby tracks, and sticking on the centre of the ridge was all the navigation involved. Not overly steep, and mostly open grass halfway to knee high. I found some old timber felling road for the last 250 metres. My Hohem gimbal for the GoPro 9 died half way up the ridge, so most of the last walk footage is focused two metres in front of me.
I emerged onto Brandons Road about half a k south of the Branch Creek Road turnoff, and 3.5 kilometres walk on Brandons Road downhill to the quarry carpark.
The lidar map available as an additional “Elevation” layer on Qld Globe maps helped with my navigation; I had two A4 photocopies of the lidar image laminated back to back (maps at start).
