River Wey walk

Todays walk is a spontanious one. All I knew was that it would be in Guildford but I had done no other planning. We start our walk in the grounds of what remains of Guildford's Norman Castle and its colourful gardens before wandering the high street with little alleys and roads branching off on each side. Leaving the town behind, we step down to the riverside from Walnut bridge and head north along the river. It's a stunning day and the initial quiet of the river gives way to people out on all sorts of watercraft; boats, narrow boats and kayaks. Soon we reach woodbridge meadow crossing, a small footbridge to the other side of the river. We follow the path and signs till we reach the National Trusts River Wey and Godalming Navigations and Dapdune Wharf. There is a second hand bookshop, tea rooms and a barge you can go inside. Its a lovely spot to sit, relax, and soak up the sun.

In hindsight, it might have been nicer to take you south along the river or out into the north downs way. Maybe we can go another time. For now, I hope you enjoyed todays walk!
