In this session, Ali Shalfrooshan presents on how to take tangilbe steps to make in assessment processes more inclusive. It is not always easy, but it is about building it into the way we approach every aspect of the design. Whether you are working on assessments, recruitment processes, or broader organisational programmes, we all have a role to play in making sure fairness and accessibility are at the core of what they deliver. Ultimately inclusion is about ensuring everyone has an opportunity to demonstrate what they can do
This session explores our Foundations of Fairness model, a simple, strategic framework built around four key stages:
Align – making sure we understand the strategic goals and reflect them in how we design and deliver
Achieve – building inclusive, accessible, and scientifically sound solutions
Analyse – using data to check how things are working, especially for different groups
Act – continuously improving based on what we learn
The goal isn’t perfection, it’s progress. Inclusion isn’t something you tick off a list. It’s something you build, refine, and revisit.
During the session we also bring in real client examples to show how this model has been applied in practice. Including high-volume assessments where inclusive design led to better outcomes for both candidates and organisations. These examples will help ground our discussion and offer practical takeaways. This session is an open and collaborative, a chance to share ideas and reflect on how we can all embed inclusion more intentionally into our work.
Ali Shalfrooshan is an award-winning business psychologist with a passion for using psychology, technology and psychometric test design to help organisations and individuals thrive. He has a particular interest in designing innovative solutions that combine technology and scientific rigour to help deliver a measurable business impact.
Ali has extensive experience in leading the design of technology-enabled solutions for both development and assessment. He and his colleagues
have won multiple awards for supporting inclusive recruitment including: Inclusive Technology 2023 RIDI Awards (Recruitment Industry Disability
Initiative), the Best Talent Management solution in 2022, ABP Excellence in Assessment Award in 2018 and 2017, and the ABP excellence in digital
technology award in 2023.
Ali has designed a variety of solutions covering the entire end to end recruitment cycle, from attraction, sifting out, to selecting in. However, his
greatest areas of interest are Diversity Equity & Inclusion (DEI) , Resilience/wellbeing, and fairness in recruitment. He is a keynote speaker on these topics, presenting across Europe, the US and Middle East. He is also the working group lead/convenor of Talogy’s global DEI Centre of Excellence.
