Crispy Turkey Bacon-Wrapped Water Chestnuts
A lighter, kid-approved twist on the classic appetizer!
These crunchy, savory bites are super easy to make in a skillet – perfect for parties, game days, or anytime snacks. The turkey bacon gets nicely crisp while staying tender enough to wrap easily. So addictive!
Ingredients
4 slices turkey bacon
1 can (8 oz) whole water chestnuts, drained (about 16-20 chestnuts)
Toothpicks (soaked in water if wooden, to prevent burning)
Optional glaze: 2-3 tbsp brown sugar, ketchup, or soy sauce for brushing

Instructions
Prep the bacon: Cook the 4 slices of turkey bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until lightly browned and cooked through but still tender and pliable (about 4-6 minutes per side). Do not overcook – they need to be flexible for wrapping! Remove from skillet and drain on paper towels.
Cut the bacon: Once cool enough to handle, cut each bacon slice into 4-5 equal pieces (depending on the size of your water chestnuts – aim for pieces long enough to wrap around once with a little overlap).
Wrap the chestnuts: Take one water chestnut and wrap a piece of the pre-cooked turkey bacon around it. Secure with a toothpick. Repeat with all water chestnuts and bacon pieces.
Cook the bites: Return the wrapped chestnuts to the same skillet over medium heat. Cook for 8-12 minutes, turning occasionally with tongs, until the bacon is crispy and golden brown on all sides.Optional: For a sweet-savory glaze, brush with a mixture of brown sugar and ketchup (or soy sauce) during the last 3-4 minutes of cooking.
Serve: Remove from skillet, let cool slightly, and serve warm on a platter. Enjoy the crunch!
