Zoodiac Deck Profile + Combos (April 2020)

Zoodiacs are back! The April 2020 forbidden/limited list gave Zoodiac Decks a huge boost by returning Drident to 1 and Pot of Avarice to 3. This build takes advantages of these changes, and I'll show some of the awesome zoodiac combos as well.

The general strategy with Zoodiacs is to outlast opponents and win via tempo and the philosophy of fire. Zoodiacs can manage card advantage pretty well too, but the engine, with it's current legality and limitations, is not inherently very advantageous. Your big plays aren't like +5 combos, but rather they set up one or two disruptions to control the tempo. From there, Pot of Avarice and Combo will allow you to out-resource opponents with Chakanine and Drident while poking for a big of Boarbow damage as well. Finally, if you can stick a board, you can finish the game with a Borrelsword.

If you are going second, you have to play very carefully because this deck is very reliant on the normal summon. However, if the summon is successful, you can summon Drident to start clearing boards or forcing backrow, then use Chakanine to revive Drident to use defensively. Whiptail is another great card going second because it offers non-targeting, non-destruction removal. Then if you go second and are able to get into Megaclops, resolving it's effect can put you so far ahead in a game.
