When your diaphragm can't move down because of stress or posture, you can only breathe into your upper chest.
Upper chest breathing equals faster, shorter, stressful breathing and poor gas exchange (oxygen and carbon dioxide).
Diaphragmatic breathing equals longer, slower breathing and improved gas exchange. It reduces your blood pressure and heart rate and enhances relaxation. It is the most effective way to move lymphatic fluid, which helps to eliminate toxins.
