Las Vegas locals talk of an old Hippy who used to hang out by a cave deep in Red Rock Canyon so I set out on an epic hike to see if the story was true. With my phone on 5% charge, I ran out of water miles from the nearest road and barely made it, having to hike over extreme terrain then sneak ninja-style thru a huge Cement plant at night just to get home!

Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area lies 17 miles to the west of Las Vegas in Nevada’s Mojave Desert. It’s known for geological features such as towering red sandstone peaks and the Keystone Thrust Fault, as well as Native American petroglyphs and an abundance of desert wildlife.
