Devina and Maja, a same-sex couple, met at work, and over time, their bond grew into a love that crossed cultures and continents. Devina, with roots in the UK and India, and Maja, born and raised in Croatia, chose to celebrate their wedding on Crveni otok — a small island near the Croatian town of Rovinj, known for its deep blue sea, pine trees, and quiet stone paths.
Their day began with a joyful Hindu ceremony, filled with color, tradition, and rituals passed down through generations. Draped in vibrant saris and surrounded by close family and friends, they honored Devina’s heritage in a setting that felt both sacred and serene. Later, they changed into white wedding dresses and exchanged vows in a heartfelt civil ceremony by the sea.
Between the two ceremonies, the island bore witness to everything — tradition and modernity, emotion and celebration, stillness and joy — and above all, love in its truest, most inclusive form.
