Chels and Chris, a Canadian couple, decided to elope to Croatia. Through her father, Chels had roots between a popular Croatian summer destination, Split, and a small Mediterranean town of Omiš. Situated at the foot of the Dinara mountain, Omiš used to be a pirate stronghold, with two fortresses overlooking the town, river and the sea. The couple hiked a scenic route to the higher fortress called Fortica to hold their ceremony there at sunset. Surrounded by mountains, the sea, sounds of birds chirping, and leaves rustling, they said their vows and took their first kiss as husband and wife.
Next morning, we strolled the empty streets of the old town in Split, surrounded by ancient Roman ruins and old Renaissance houses. The Diocletian's palace was built at the end of the 3rd century AD as a residence for the emperor, and today stands as one of the most famous sights in Split and Croatia, together with Venetian era houses and a Romanesque bell tower.
