Simon is a passionate remote-control car racer — but as a quadriplegic with a C4 spinal cord injury, traditional controllers weren’t an option. That’s where REMAP stepped in.
Working closely with Simon, REMAP volunteer engineer Martyn Evans designed a fully hands-free, mouth-operated controller, enabling Simon to take back control of his hobby. After several prototype visits and refinements — including adapting an aviation-grade controller and adding a live camera feed — Simon can now race RC cars independently once again.
This project shows how a tailored engineering solution can reignite someone’s passion and independence.
