ROARING Boeing 737-200 Taxi-Out + Takeoff From CLT [4K] Ameristar N467TW | *ENGINE FAILURE/ BLOWOUT*

A 39 year old aviation classic and an extremely rare aircraft to see flying in 2025, the Boeing 737-200 at Charlotte Douglas Int’l Airport

The first B737-200 flight into CLT in almost 10 years, and my very first time seeing the TRUE 737 in action!

The first video showing the 737 flying in enroute to Charlotte Douglas was taken from my backyard, but the taxi-out and spool up were taken beside the Sullenberger Aviation Museum parking lot! A very underrated and not very well known spot at KCLT for Planespotting, especially with 18 OPS (north side arrivals and departures)!

All these videos were taken today on June 12, 2025. I had no plans to go to the airport today but after getting news about this extremely rare and historic aircraft I’ve been trying to see fly for years, I had to make an effort to see it. So I threw all my stuff together and drove down to the airport! And 45 minute DID NOT disappoint!!

Here are some details about this specific flight and the exact B737-200 that was operating it:

This flight was a charter flight operated by Ameristar for an upcoming NASCAR race on June 15th. The flight was carrying personnel from Charlotte to Mexico City and was 1 of several different chartered aircraft used with others being a National A330-200 and Omni-Air International 767-200 (will be shown in a future) video).

I do find it odd how they chose this specific aircraft for the flight considering it just turned 39 years old and will be flying roughly 3 and a half hours to Mexico City, but I’m certainly not complaining!

• Airframe history:

This Boeing 737-205(A) (registered N467TW) just celebrated her 39th birthday after being first delivered to Braathens S.A.F.E. as LN-SUZ on June 4, 1986. She later went to VASP as PP-SPC in November 1991 and then back to ConocoPhillips in September 1993 as N733AR and N733PA. Then on August 29, 2013 she went Ameristar as N467TW and has been flying with the airline ever since as a charter plane!

• Emergency rejected takeoff/ Engine Blowout:

As mentioned and shown in the video, this B732 had a major issue during takeoff where it had to reject and go back to the gate with emergency services being called out to the aircraft.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, but the engine failure caused the closure of runway 18L for roughly 1-2 hours as Airside OPS had to check for debris on the runway and see if anything was injected that caused the failure.

After showing the video to several people, the most likely cause was simply a compressor stall which was/ is common for the 737-200 with the PW JT8D engines

Another thing I found odd was the spool up on takeoff, does anyone else notice the “afterburner” sound? I’m not sure if that’s what it’s supposed to sound like although it was incredible hearing it in person!

I have not received any new updates and as far as I know N467TW is still at CLT with the passengers possibly still here as well. The cause of the engine issue is still under investigation.

Apart from the engine failure and stress for the NASCAR personnel trying to get to Mexico City, today was an amazing day out at CLT as I was able to make a MAJOR aircraft off my aviation bucket list!

I have been trying to see a 737-200 for years now and I can’t believe I got to see one in such short notice AND with this amazing of a view!!

I could not have asked for a better place to see this beautiful aircraft taxi out and takeoff from ‪@CLTAirport‬ and the ‪@sullenbergeraviationmuseum‬ and I wish this aviation classic many more years of flying!
