Special Episode - A Discussion about RACE in the CHURCH - The Same Team Podcast.

We're taking a break from our normal videos on this post to have a discussion about race. Let me start by saying: "I don't have it all figured out"! With all that's been going on around our country and especially in Minnesota in the wake of George Floyd's murder we felt it was critical to gather with some of our African American friends, to have a conversation, to have an open mind, to seek to learn, empathize and understand so we could all move towards unity together.

The church in America remains a divided place for the most part on Sundays. We present this conversation as our own step towards racial reconciliation. The work starts here and isn't done. This conversation is and will be ongoing for us. Our challenge to you is to take some time to evaluate your social network and as a friend recently told me: "if your network doesn't have people with different levels of pigment in their skin in it... change it". In changing those connections, and through relationships and healthy conversations we believe we can make steps to reconcile with one another.

We also understand racism will always be around in some form - some folks will retain hate and that cycle won't be completely broken until, we believe, Christ returns to take us home. Until then though, step out of your comfort zone, ask questions, seek to understand, listen, and I believe you'll be pleasantly surprised how rich the journey can be along the way.
