On 21 October 2024, an excerpt from my full interview with Eram Saeed was posted on her Facebook page. The excerpt related to our discussion on the hijab. In this video, I share my reflections on the negative reaction from listeners, especially the anger shown by women. I consider why Muslim women are often at the forefront of resisting emancipatory and gender-egalitarian readings of the Quran, what turbo-charged Salafism has done to Muslim women's confidence, and how I will continue to exercise agency as a believer.
