Respected viewers this video has been recorded in a program of renowned publication Rajkamal Prakashan's interactive sessions on newly published books in Roopvani studio,Varanasi. The musical group performing the kabir's poem is Taana Bana Band from Varanasi. This Group is known to recreate and beautifully compose Kabir sahib's literature.

Kabirdas was a renowned poet, saint and social reformer, who lived in the 15 century. He was born in Varanasi. His Jayanti is celebrated by a large number of people. The name of his parents is not clear but as per the belief he was born from the womb of a widowed Brahmin, but he was left in the stream of the river. A childless Muslim couple saw the baby on the river bank, they brought him up as a son and some people say that he was a Muslim by birth and he got the education and knowledge from Guru Ramanand.

Kabirdas left his body in Maghar and after his death, there was a dispute in Hindu Muslims for the last rites of his body. But it is believed that during this controversy, when the sheet was removed from the dead body then there were only flowers instead of his body and later these flowers were distributed among Hindu and Muslims for the last rites.
Kabirdas always showed interest in religious and spiritual activities and he started performing it at an early age. He used to call himself a child of Lord Ram and Allah. He even established a spiritual community called Kabir Panth. Today, this community has a vast number of followers.

The Bhakti movement was highly influenced by his works. Here are few renowned writings of Kabirdas - Anurag Sagar, Kabir Granthawali, Bijak, Sakhi Granth etc. He wrote many couplets to improve the society and remove the superstition. That is why he was known as social reformer. He was a poet with free thoughts and his language was simple and easy to understand. After his death, all his works were collected in Kabir Ganthavali.
