VINYASA 101
One reason I love being part of the teacher training experience is to help ensure that the fundamentals of the vinyasa practice are understood and embodied from an anatomical standpoint. One such fundamental I feel passionate about is the transition from ardha uttanasana to chaturanga dandasana which I see being taught incorrectly in the yoga room.
Unless you were going to press into handstand, ardha uttanasana (and not uttanasana) should be the preceding pose to chaturanga. I explain exactly why in this short tutorial.
Pop on over to the link in my bio to view. And let me know in the comments below what transitions or postures you would like deconstructed or explained next time.
Meanwhile, I know it’s not always so clear cut, so if you have an example as to when uttanasana would come before stepping into plank or low plank pose, let me know!
