The song is a collaboration between Imphal Talkies, Laihui (Folk Ensemble), Siyom and Loumi Lup(Assam). The song is a campaign to conserve and preserve indigenous lands. It is an initiative by the farmers’ group ‘Loumi Lup (Assam)’
Indigenous communities are often threatened by development projects and globalisations. They gradually give up their lands, so is the indigenous rice cultivation practices. Loumi Lup has been working relentlessly with Meetei peasants across the Barak Valley (Assam) to revive the farming culture among the youths. This song is a call to the community to take care of their lands and indigenous practices.
