“Hagit sa Ebanghelyo” is one of the known and common Lenten communion songs of Ms. Nars Fernandez, from the texts of Mr. Karl Gaspar.
The song is about following Christ by loving others, faithfully serving, and carrying someone’s cross, as Jesus did on the way to Calvary. It also reminds us that following Him is not easy; we may be facing thorns, a heavy cross, and even death.
However, the song promises that those who are persecuted for righteousness, justice, and faith will be blessed and will receive the kingdom of God.
This song can be used as reflection song during Via Crucis.

Koro:
Dili sayon ang pagsunod kang Kristo;
Daghang tunok ang dalan nga agi-an mo.
Bug-at ang krus nga pas-anon mo,
Ug kamatayon naa naghulat kanimo.
II. Si Kristo mismo nag-ingon sa mga tinun-an;
Pagbantay kay panakpon kamo'g biay-biayon.
Prisohon kamo ug ilhong mga tamapalasan,
Ug ang naa sa gahum, hukman kamo'g silotan.
III. Bulahan ang gilutos tungod sa ilang tinoohan,
Bulahan ang gidaug-daug ug gibugalbugalan.
Bulahan ang mobarug alang sa katarungan,
Magmalipayon sila, ila ang gingharian.
