Fall Solstice on the Durango & Silverton

Hi everyone, and welcome to my first upload. I originally posted my railfanning content on TikTok, but I’m now expanding to YouTube to share longer and more detailed videos.
This footage was shot on September 26, 2025, and primarily focuses on chasing the daily trains from Durango to Silverton, featuring the first run of D&SNG No. 473 for the 2025 season.
473’s first shakedown run was the day before, but during this trip to Silverton, it encountered a few issues, including a hotbox on the rear tender truck. Meanwhile, Locomotive 493 handled the second daily train down from Silverton alone, and Locomotive No. 1 “Hot Shot” was tasked with switching duties when 493 experienced problems arriving back into Durango.
