What is a chemical peeling?
A Chemical peeling is a technique used to improve the appearance of the skin. It involves a controlled chemical damage to certain layers of epidermis and/or dermis.
How do they work?
Acidic substances used in peelings help lower the skin pH (the balance between acidity and alkalinity). This causes a rupture of intercellular connections, freeing dead and old cells and accelerating their elimination. As a result the basal layer of the skin starts a renewal process, producing new cells until the old and aged cells are replaced.
