Are Video Games Gay Enough? | Video Essay on Queer Representation in Video Games, LGBT Characters

Are video games gay enough? Is gay representation in video games on point or is it just gay for play? Games like Dream Daddy and Last of Us 2 heavily feature queer storylines but are these forms of queer representation the kind that we need? The history of gays in video games and LGBT characters in gaming involves a lot of mistreatment and bad representation. Games like Caper in the Castro were erased from history. And games like Dream Daddy are being made by straight devs, which can feel like queerbaiting. We need more queer-made LGBT games like Celeste, Tell Me Why, and If Found… to tell our stories.
