Try Again (Lessons from Casting)
Scripture: Luke 5:1–9 (NKJV)
Luke 5:1: “So it was, as the multitude pressed about Him to hear the word of God, that He stood by the Lake of Gennesaret.”
Lesson 1.1: The people had a need—His body was hungry for Jesus.
Luke 5:2; “And saw two boats standing by the lake; but the fishermen had gone from them and were washing their nets.”
Lesson 2.1: There were empty vessels ready for use.
Lesson 2.2: Jesus was present where His body had a need.
Lesson 2.3: This points to a season you thought you were done with or washed out.
Luke 5:3: “Then He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little from the land. And He sat down and taught the multitudes from the boat.”
Lesson 3.1: Jesus got into Simon’s boat and asked him to put out a little from the land—the first act of obedience.
Lesson 3.2: Simon allowed Jesus into his boat, into his business, and permitted God to be seen and glorified there.
Lesson 3.3: Jesus sat down in Simon’s boat and taught the multitude from it.
Lesson 3.4: Simon was also in the boat with Jesus.
Luke 5:4: “When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, ‘Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.’”
Lesson 4.1: After God’s word was established in Simon’s boat and business, Jesus gave him specific instructions.
Lesson 4.2: Try again, but this time with Jesus in your boat, where He can be seen and receive the glory.
Luke 5:5: “But Simon answered and said to Him, ‘Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.’”
Lesson 5.1: Simon, an expert fisherman, deferred to Jesus and yielded despite past failures.
Lesson 5.2: Simon was eager for change.
Lesson 5.3: Being in close proximity to Jesus allowed Simon to see and believe differently.
Luke 5:6: “And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking.”
Lesson 6.1: Obedience to Jesus’ instruction produced a harvest beyond their natural capacity.
Luke 5:7; “So they signaled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink.”
Lesson 7.1: After bringing Jesus into his boat and obeying His instruction, Simon’s capacity was exceeded.
Lesson 7.2: Expansion required acquisitions—others were needed to sustain the increase.
Lesson 7.3: A supernatural tap was opened to Simon.
Luke 5:8; “When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, ‘Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!’”
Lesson 8.1: The accelerated provision shocked Simon; he recognized it could only be God.
Lesson 8.2: Simon recognized the presence of God and responded with repentance. Isaiah 6:5 (NKJV); “So I said: ‘Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, And I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; For my eyes have seen the King, The Lord of hosts.’”
Lesson 8.3: Simon did not attempt to take any credit.
Luke 5:9; “For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken.”
Lesson 9.1: The accelerated harvest and growth astonished Simon.
Lesson 9.2: The accelerated harvest and growth astonished those around him.
Prayer Points
1. O Lord, I empty myself to be used by You, for Your Kingdom and Your glory.
2. O Lord, You are welcome into my boats. Name your boat(s).
3. O Lord, show me how I and the boat(s) You have given me can be used for Your Kingdom.
4. O Lord, I yield to Your instructions.
5. O Lord, I receive the indwelling of Your sevenfold Spirit: the Spirit of the Lord, wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge, and the fear of the Lord.
6. O Lord, let my life, my family, and all connected to me be a sign of Your hand upon our lives.
Prayers for Nations
Prayer Points: Have mercy on Your nation.
Scripture:
Work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare. — Jeremiah 29:7 (TPT)
Prayers for Leaders
Prayer Points: Give our leaders divine wisdom, knowledge, and compassion for the land and for Your people.

Scripture:
Most of all, I’m writing to encourage you to pray with gratitude to God. Pray for all men with all forms of prayers and requests as you intercede with intense passion. And pray for every political leader and representative, so that we would be able to live tranquil, undisturbed lives as we worship the awe-inspiring God with pure hearts. —1 Timothy 2:1–2 (TPT)
