Saúl Cosentino: Este amor como un sol in C major (with score)

Saúl Cosentino (*1935) is an Argentine composer and friend of the late Astor Piazzolla. Piazzolla saw Cosentino among the tango composers he knew as the one with the most potential. Este amor como un sol (This love is there like a sun) is a dreamy tango from the Suite atipica consisting of two stanzas . The composition moves between tango, classical music and pop ballad. A secondary voice rises again and again, entering into a dialogue with the main voice and repeating the theme again in the final tones. It is definitely not a tango to dance to, but a tango to listen to, just as Piazzolla wanted his tangos to be understood. The tango rhythm, indicated by the syncopation, is encountered at best in a rudimentary manner, and only once in its entirety in the fourth to last bar.

This piece is from the anthology "Tango Nuevo For Piano Solo Vol. 1", published by the German publisher TONOS Darmstadt, and it is still available there. It is an appealing collection of 10 newer tango compositions or compositions influenced by tango by the Argentinian composers Astor Piazzolla, Pablo Ziegler, Rodolfo Mederos, Saúl Cosentino, Osvaldo Requena and Miguel A.
